VinFuture’s podcast: Igniting the Future: Prof. David Payne on Science’s Next Generation

Dear Scientists,

It brings me the great pleasure to introduce Episode 5 of the Unveil the Future podcast, dedicated to exploring the frontiers of science and technology. We bring you conversations with the world’s leading minds, those who are shaping our tomorrow. Our aim is to deconstruct complex scientific concepts for the general public, inspire future generations, and foster a deeper appreciation for the power of human ingenuity.

In June, VinUniversity had the privilege of welcoming Prof. Sir. David Neil Payne, the 2022 VinFuture Grand Prize Laureate, as the keynote speaker at its first ever cohort graduation, and thus our podcast had the honor of hosting him in person. Prof. Payne is a true luminary whose work has woven the very fabric of modern telecommunications. His groundbreaking work in fiber optics has laid the foundation for the digital age we live in. From revolutionizing telecommunications to enabling modern socio-economic development, Prof. Payne’s contribution is immeasurable.

In this episode, we will delve into Prof. Payne’s inspiring journey, from his early fascination with light to his pivotal discoveries. We aim to explore the challenges and triumphs that shaped his career, gain insights into his passionate dedication to science, and listen to his perspective on the future generation’s potential. Beyond his scientific achievements, we will also discuss the importance of education and mentorship in nurturing future generations of scientists and engineers.

Join us as we unravel the fascinating world of fiber optics and discover the visionary mind behind this transformative technology.

If his journey resonates with you and you’re eager to engage further, we encourage you to reach out to our Head of Communications, Mr. Toan Quach, at v.toanqc@vinfutureprize.org and become a part of the conversation that inspires change.

Sincerely,
Dr. Thai-Ha Le, Managing Director.
